Niina, Japanese Ghanaian Model Talks About Her Journey In Modeling

Niina is a 24 year old Japanese-Ghanaian model, born to a Ghanaian father and Japanese mother and many have been wondering who Niina is after she blessed the runway at The New York Fashion Week.

Her Naturally Grown Afro is her trademark. She started modelling 3 years ago after graduating from a fashion school and appearing first time in a fashion college show.

After her last visit to Ghana 22 years ago, she wants to finally come back to Ghana and visit other Africa countries to explore their culture and fashion Industry.

Niina has worked with various brands and played active roles in magazines and catalogues. Recently she appeared in the SACAI 2021 Pre Spring Collection and has also walked in shows like Mint designs 2020 A/W(TFW), NO SESSO 2020SS (NYFW), 2020 SS NON TOKYO 2020 SS(TFW), FACE A-J 2020 SS(TFW), YSL × Japan Fashion Culture Foundation PV.

She’s also featured in popular magazines like Vogue italia (photo vogue), MANIFESTO Magazine(Hong Kong), NYLON JAPAN, SACAI, MOUSSY, ISSEY MIYAKE, MINMI×atmos Live T シャツ, UNEEK BASEMNT, Marc Jacques Burton, LANDLORD and others.

Niina is also an artist whose drawings are strongly influenced by cartoon network and Tim Burton. “When I was younger , always watched cartoons and i will draw them. I want to draw more about the beauty of Japanese culture and Black people” says Niina.

She’s hoping to work with her star icon Rihanna someday and bigger brands.
